Physical therapists intend to enhance a person's range of action and quality of life and avoid further injury or impairment.


Advantages of physical therapy


Based on the reason for treatment, the benefits of physical therapy may include the following:

● avoiding surgery


● Bettered mobility and movement


● management of age-related medical issues


● injury or trauma recovery 


● stroke or paralysis recovery 


● fall deterrence


● enhanced balance

Different types of physical therapy


There are several types of physical therapy, and therapists generally like to specialize. These types incorporate:


● Orthopedic physical therapy: This address musculoskeletal injuries involving the muscles, bones, fascia, ligaments, and tendons. It is appropriate for conditions like fractures, tendinitis, bursitis, sprains, chronic health problems, and rehabilitation or revival from orthopedic surgery. Patients may undergo treatment with joint manual therapy, strength training, mobilizations, mobility training, and other modalities.


● Geriatric physical therapy: This can support older adults who induce conditions that impact their mobility and physical function, comprising arthritis, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disorder, hip and joint replacement, balance disorders, and incontinence. This intervention strives to restore mobility, reduce pain, and increase physical fitness.


● Neurological physical therapy: This can support people with neurological conditions, like Alzheimer's disease, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, and stroke. Treatment may intend to grow limb reactivity, enhance movement patterns, enhance strength, and boost balance.


● Cardiovascular and pulmonary healing can help people with cardiopulmonary conditions and surgical procedures. Treatment can grow muscular and cardiovascular durability and stamina.


● Wound care therapy can support ensuring that a healing wound obtains sufficient oxygen and blood via enhanced circulation. Physical therapy may enclose manual therapies, compression therapy, e-stim, and wound care.


● Vestibular therapy: This intends to treat balance issues that can follow from inner ear conditions. Vestibular physical therapy concerns exercises and manual techniques to support patients' retrieve balance and coordination.


● Decongestive therapy can support the drain of amassed fluid in patients with lymphedema & other conditions concerning fluid accumulation.


● Pelvic floor rehabilitation: This can treat conditions that impact the pelvic floor, like urinary or fecal incontinence, urinary urgency, pelvic pain because of injuries or surgery, or specific conditions.
